This policy explains how Charlton Tyre Service of 78 Carrington Road, Torrington QLD 4350 handles the personal information you give us through this website, over the phone, by email or at the counter. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

We only collect what we need to answer you and look after your vehicle. Through the booking and enquiry forms on this website that is:

  • Your name, phone number and email address
  • Your vehicle: the type, make, model, year, registration and tyre size, where you give them
  • The work you are after, when suits you, and anything else you tell us about the job

The tyre finder works in your browser. It does not send your registration or vehicle details anywhere until you choose to send us an enquiry.

If you call, email or come in, we collect whatever you choose to give us, which is usually the same details. When we do work on your vehicle we keep a record of it, such as the tyres fitted, the service carried out and the odometer reading.

Information collected automatically

This website does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels or third-party analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used to keep the site running and secure, not to build a profile of you.

Two outside services can be involved. The map on our home page is provided by Google Maps, so Google receives your IP address and may set cookies when it loads. Our videos are hosted on YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, and nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play.

Why we collect it

  • To answer your enquiry, give you a price and book your vehicle in
  • To do the work, order in parts or tyres, and let you know when the vehicle is ready
  • To keep service and tyre records for your vehicle, which also back up your warranty
  • To manage fleet accounts
  • To meet our own record-keeping and legal obligations

We do not use your details for unrelated marketing, and we never sell or rent personal information to anyone.

Who we share it with

We only share your details where it is needed to do the job or where the law requires it. That may include:

  • Our own staff in the workshop and at the counter
  • The providers we use to run the business, such as our workshop management system, email, the Google services that receive and log website enquiries, and our website host
  • A tyre or parts supplier, or the manufacturer, where we need to order for you or make a warranty claim
  • A regulator, insurer or authority where we are required by law to provide it

Some of the software we rely on may store data on servers outside Australia.

How we store and protect it

Enquiries sent through this website go to our business email and are saved to a private enquiry log held in our Google business account. Job and vehicle records are kept in our workshop system. Only people who need the information to do their job can see it, and we take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send payment card or identity details through the website forms.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable time afterwards. Vehicle and job records are kept for longer, because they are useful to you and to us for warranty and servicing history.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Get in touch using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
