How we pick
Four questions, then a recommendation.
These are the four things that actually decide it.
How many kilometres
The single biggest factor, and the one people round down. High kilometres move you up the ladder, because the cheap set gets replaced twice.
What surface, honestly
Mostly bitumen with a few weekends a year on dirt is an all terrain, not a rugged terrain. You will hear the difference on the highway every day of the week.
What it carries
Trays, racks, vans and anything towing need the load rating matched to the loaded weight, not the empty one. This is where the wrong tyre gets dangerous rather than just disappointing.
How long you are keeping it
A vehicle going down the road in eighteen months does not need the set that lasts five years. We would rather say that than sell you the dearer one.
